- If Europe wants to take its rightful place as the environmental leader, the European Union must be responsible for Climate Policy, in particular, to negotiate and agree on international climate agreements with third countries in accordance with ecological European standards. This will also allow us to swiftly upgrade and internationalise the mechanism for carbon pricing through agreements that include as many states as possible.
- For Europe’s climate transition to work, we must upgrade our Energy Union by using gas as a bridge resource to phase out coal.
- We want to invest in clean innovation, in particular a future of emission-free mobility. For this, we propose an acceleration of planning and implementation of intra-EU electricity and hydrogen networks through a new definition of TEN-hydrogen axes along with building up an EU-wide hydrogen infrastructure for trains, heavy goods, and passenger vehicles.
- We want to make sure the rest of the world is on board with our climate ambitions. Therefore, we propose establishing a 50 billion euro global EU H2 Investment Foundation (EUH2Invest) to implement technology transfer and investments for H2 and green power production in African, Asian, and Latin American countries together with development aid.
