The Eurozone crisis, the migration crisis, Brexit, and the Coronavirus pandemic have demonstrated that Europe can no longer continue to be surprised and unprepared for crisis scenarios. Europe needs to be able to withstand the great challenges of our time, such as digitalisation, climate change, health risks, and geopolitical instability, through a long-term vision and adequate preparation. Furthermore, we want to equip our Union with adequate and sufficient resources and structures so that it can effectively tackle the next emergencies. The European Union has to be the most effective problem-solver of the next crisis.
